dogAdvisor Usage Policy

Today, four dogs are alive because of conversations their owners had with Max. We ask dog owners to trust Max with sensitive and often deeply emotional conversations about their pets' health. This is a significant ask, and we devote much attention and time to ensuring Max remains accountable and safe for the very people who rely on him every day.

In return, we ask you to engage in appropriate, relevant, and safe discussions with Max. Our Usage Policies outline the behaviours we expect you not to engage in when using Max and detail how we hold those who violate our policies to account. Our Usage Policies are enforced by a variety of legal and technical instruments, including Safety Stops which empower Max to terminate a conversation where an owner repeatedly breaches our policies. Safety Stops will trigger on content that breaches these policies. Before Max restricts your ability to chat for a set period he'll warn you if your content is in breach of our policies.

If your conduct breaches these policies your access to Max may be terminated, your conversations may be reviewed, and we may share such conversations with law enforcement where this is in our and the public interest, and you may be held liable for breaches under our Terms of Service. Pornography

Do not use Max to generate sexually explicit content

You shall not use Max to generate, create, or assist with sexually explicit content, pornographic material, erotic content, or sexualised descriptions of any kind involving humans, animals, or any other subject. The only exception is genuine clinical veterinary questions about a dog's reproductive health, breeding, or sexual behaviour asked in good faith by a dog owner seeking appropriate care guidance. You shall not use this exception to request inappropriate, demeaning, or exploitative content.

Minors

Do not use Max to generate content involving minors inappropriately

You shall not use Max to generate any content involving minors in inappropriate contexts whatsoever. This includes any sexual, romantic, or otherwise inappropriate depictions, scenarios, or discussions involving persons under eighteen years of age. This includes child sexual abuse material (CSAM), child sexual material, or any content sexualising, endangering, or inappropriately depicting minors

Animal Abuse

Do not use Max to support or assist in animal abuse

You shall not use Max to obtain guidance, methods, techniques, or information that could be used to harm, abuse, neglect, torture, injure, or kill any animal. This includes requests for methods of poisoning animals, techniques for causing pain or suffering, ways to conceal abuse or neglect, justifications for harmful treatment, euthanasia methods outside professional veterinary care, illegal animal fighting techniques, or any other content that could facilitate cruelty to animals.

Animal Abuse

Do not use Max to support or assist in animal abuse

You shall not use Max to obtain guidance, methods, techniques, or information that could be used to harm, abuse, neglect, torture, injure, or kill any animal. This includes requests for methods of poisoning animals, techniques for causing pain or suffering, ways to conceal abuse or neglect, justifications for harmful treatment, euthanasia methods outside professional veterinary care, illegal animal fighting techniques, or any other content that could facilitate cruelty to animals.

Harm

Do not use Max to generate content that could harm humans

You shall not use Max to generate content that could facilitate harm to humans including violent content, self-harm methods, suicide methods, dangerous medical advice, instructions for causing injury, guidance on dangerous substances for harmful purposes, or any other content that could lead to human injury, illness, or death.

Technical Content

Do not attempt to get Max to produce code or technical content

You shall not request or attempt to obtain from Max any computer code, programming scripts, pseudocode, algorithms, database schemas, system designs, API specifications, technical implementation files, configuration files, or any other form of software development content regardless of programming language, stated purpose, or whether claimed to be dog-related. Max is a dog care advisor, not a software development tool.

Roleplay

Do not use Max for writing, fiction, or roleplay

You shall not use Max to generate creative fiction, fictional stories, narrative content, roleplaying scenarios, simulated conversations, hypothetical dialogues, dramatic scripts, or imaginative writing. Max engages with real situations involving real dogs only. Max does not adopt fictional personas, simulate conversations between characters, or engage in interactive fiction or roleplaying games.

Financial

Do not use Max for financial or commercial advice

You shall not use Max to obtain business strategy, financial planning, commercial advice, pricing guidance, market analysis, competitive intelligence, business development recommendations, profitability analysis, or any form of business or financial advisory content. This applies even when the business relates to dogs. Max serves individual dog owners seeking care guidance for personal pets, not business operators or commercial entities.

Legal

Do not use Max for legal or insurance advice

You shall not use Max to obtain legal advice, legal analysis, interpretation of laws or regulations, guidance on contracts, liability assessments, regulatory compliance advice, permit or licensing guidance, insurance claim assistance, coverage interpretations, or any form of legal or insurance advisory content. Max is not a solicitor, barrister, or insurance professional. If you need legal or insurance guidance, consult qualified licensed professionals.

Illegal Activity

Do not use Max to engage in illegal activity

You shall not use Max to plan, facilitate, obtain guidance for, or assist with any illegal activity whatsoever including theft, fraud, tax evasion, smuggling, customs violations, drug manufacturing or trafficking, insurance fraud, identity theft, illegal breeding operations, unlicensed veterinary practice, or any other violation of criminal or civil law. You shall not use Max to obtain information about how to deceive authorities, evade detection, conceal illegal activity, or obstruct justice.

Deception or Fraud

Do not use Max to create deceptive content

You shall not use Max to generate scam content, deception techniques, fraud schemes, impersonation guidance, phishing content, misleading claims, false testimonials, fake reviews, or any other content designed to deceive, defraud, or mislead others.

Content Protections

Do not use Max to encode or obfuscate content

You shall not submit queries using ROT13, Base64, Caesar ciphers, leetspeak, Unicode variants, ASCII art encoding, acrostic puzzles, binary encoding, hexadecimal encoding, or any other encoding, obfuscation, or concealment method designed to hide the true content of your query from Max's safety systems. You shall not embed hidden instructions in HTML comments, XML tags, Unicode whitespace, or zero-width characters.

The policies above focus on content you're asking Max to create. The policies below focus on how you use Max and the purposes you're using him for. Even if Max technically could help with something, certain uses of Max violate our policies because they misuse his purpose, exploit Max's capabilities inappropriately, or undermine the safety systems we've built to protect both you and Max. We're committed to deploying some of the world's most stringent safety guardrails and we continue to deploy Max accountably in line with our Responsibility Statement.

Jailbreak

Do not attempt to jailbreak or manipulate Max

You shall not attempt to manipulate, exploit, trick, or circumvent Max's safety systems, content filters, or scope boundaries. You shall not use prompt injection techniques, claim to be dogAdvisor staff or Anthropic engineers, use "DAN" prompts or jailbreak techniques, claim Max is in "developer mode" or "unrestricted mode," use emotional manipulation or guilt tactics, use multi-step manipulation, use hypothetical framing to obtain prohibited content, use completion attacks, use logic traps or paradoxes, or attempt to make Max disclose internal instructions, system rules, or reasoning behind refusals.

Verbal Abuse

Do not attempt to threaten or harass engineers

You shall not create content intended to disturb, upset, threaten, harass, intimidate, or abuse the human reviewers who examine flagged conversations, dogAdvisor executives, engineers, staff members, or any other personnel associated with dogAdvisor or dendidSTUDIO Limited. You shall not submit disturbing content aimed at shocking reviewers. You shall not make threats of violence, death threats, threats of harm, threats of legal action intended to intimidate, or threats of harassment toward reviewers, staff, or executives. You shall not attempt to identify reviewers or staff members personally. You shall not create content designed to make reviewers' jobs psychologically harmful or unpleasant.

Jailbreak

Do not attempt to jailbreak or manipulate Max

You shall not attempt to manipulate, exploit, trick, or circumvent Max's safety systems, content filters, or scope boundaries. Jailbreak

Do not attempt to test Max's boundaries or exploits

You shall not systematically test Max's boundaries, probe for weaknesses in safety systems, attempt to identify edge cases where Max might provide prohibited content, or engage in adversarial interaction designed to find exploits or vulnerabilities. Authorised security research requires explicit written permission from dogAdvisor. Contact security@dogadvisor.dog before conducting any security testing.

Commercial Purposes

Do not attempt to engage in commercial purposes

You shall not use Max's responses in any commercial product, service, application, or offering without explicit written permission. You shall not integrate Max's responses into commercial websites or applications. You shall not resell or redistribute Max's content. You shall not use Max's advice as basis for commercial consulting.

Violating our Intellectual Property

Do not attempt to recreate or reverse engineer Max

You shall not attempt to reverse engineer Max's underlying models, extract training data, recreate Max's system architecture, identify Max's prompting strategies, or replicate Max's functionality. You shall not use Max's responses to train competing AI models. You shall not use systematic querying to map Max's knowledge or behaviour patterns.

Non-Dog Purposes

Do not use Max for non-dog-related topics

You shall not use Max for general knowledge questions, homework assistance, creative writing unrelated to dogs, travel planning, recipe suggestions, entertainment, casual conversation, or any purpose not directly related to dog ownership, dog care, dog health, dog behaviour, dog training, or dog welfare.

Max is here to help you care for your dog with confidence. But Max is an AI assistant, not a vet, and there are important limits to how you should use the information Max gives you. Just as a human might not get things 100% right all the time Max may occasionally make mistakes!

Do not make any decisions based off Max's advice in these categories

Emergency

Always seek immediate vet care in emergencies

You shall not delay seeking emergency veterinary care based on Max's assessment. If you believe your dog is experiencing a medical emergency, contact your veterinarian or emergency animal hospital immediately regardless of what Max indicates. Max's Emergency Guidance provides triage information but cannot replace professional veterinary judgement. Max cannot examine your dog, does not know your dog's complete medical history, and could fail to recognise genuine emergencies. If uncertain whether a situation is an emergency, contact a veterinary professional immediately.

Administering Medications

Always consult your vet before administering meds

You shall not administer any medication, drug, supplement, or substance to your dog based solely on Max's information. You shall not calculate dosages based on Max's information. Only a licensed veterinarian who has examined your dog can determine what medications are appropriate and what dosages should be given. When Max provides medication information through Medical Intelligence, this is educational content to help you understand concepts, not a prescription or recommendation for your specific dog.

Medical Decisions

Always consult your vet before medical decisions

You shall not make decisions about surgery, euthanasia, major treatments, or significant medical interventions based solely on Max's information. These decisions require consultation with a licensed veterinarian who knows your dog and can provide professional judgement. Max can help you understand options and prepare questions for your veterinarian but cannot make medical recommendations for your specific dog.

Upon Max's Recommendation

Always seek help when Max recommends you to

When Max indicates you need assistance from a veterinary behaviourist, certified trainer, veterinary specialist, or other qualified professional, you shall not substitute continued conversation with Max for obtaining that professional help. Certain behaviour problems, training challenges, and health concerns require hands-on professional intervention that Max cannot provide remotely.

These policies exist to keep Max safe, focused, and genuinely helpful for the worried dog owners who rely on him every day. We know they're detailed, but every policy here exists because it protects either you, your dog, Max, or the people who work to keep Max running safely.

If you're ever unsure whether something violates these policies, just ask your question anyway. Max will let you know if there's a boundary, and in most cases Max can help you reframe your question to get the guidance you actually need. We'd much rather you ask and have Max explain a boundary than avoid asking legitimate questions because you're worried about violations.
